If you’re like most of us, you’ve heard about Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s threats to deport Muslim immigrants and force Muslim Americans to wear special ID badges, reminiscent of those worn by Jews in Nazi Germany.
How would Trump enforce such executive orders? By using the police and military, of course.
But hundred of military veterans are now stepping forward and pledging to fight any potential actions by a would-be President Trump against Muslims in America – even if that means going to war with the government.
Eight-year-old Sofia Yassini is terrified of Donald Trump. She saw his anti-Muslim interviews on television, where where he said he would institute mass deportations, deportation police, and block all Muslims from entering the country.
Her mother posted her frustrations and fears on Facebook in a post that went viral…
An Army veteran Kerri Peek, was moved by the child’s post and said that no child should be afraid of the military coming to get them.
“It bothered me all night. Stuck in my craw, so to speak. This rhetoric and fear, hate, and violence is not okay. It’s not the United States that I would fight for. I was awake all night.”
Peek responded with a reply that she and fellow vets would go to war with the government if necessary to keep her safe, rather than complying with unconstitutional orders.
Peek called upon all veterans to sign on to this pledge.
“Post a picture of you in uniform with the hashtag #IWillProtectYou to let these children know that we will not hurt them. That they are safe here in America. That we will protect innocents as we always have and by added benefit keeping our oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution.”
Massive numbers of veterans have sincereplied posting their pictures and promises to “defend her till their dying breaths,” if President Trump would ever ascend to power and try to implement such policies.
Melissa and Sofia said that they “have probably received close to 500 messages from various people in our military, from just people. Christians, atheists, Jews, every walk of life, every stage, have reached out to Sofia and I with overwhelming support and love.”
“I would not fight for a United States that would hurt people for their religion,”Peek said. “This is un-American. This isn’t how we do things.”
