Putting Names to the Shadowy Figures Behind 2017’s Biggest Fake News Story

John Pilger on the Mainstream Media and Imperial Power

Noted journalist and filmmaker John Pilger’s collection of work has been archived by the British Library, but deep-rooted problems of Western media create an increasingly difficult landscape for ethical journalism, as Pilger explained in an interview with Dennis Bernstein and Randy Credico.

Emmy award-winning filmmaker John Pilger is among the most important political filmmakers of the 20th and 21st century. From Vietnam to Palestine to atomic war, Pilger’s work has been on the cutting edge, and his stinging critique of western media has always be revelatory. And, no doubt, his biting analysis is more relevant and important now than

Between flailing over Russia-gate and obsessing over a “tell-all” book, the major U.S. news media continues to miss the most substantive misconduct of the Trump administration.

Opinion -- On Monday, I flipped over to MSNBC and what were they “covering”? Trump’s “stable genius” tweet. And no, they were not “advancing the story”  … that is, if there is a way to advance a stale story based on a two-day-old tweet. Instead, they just had a couple talking heads blathering on in pointless speculation about Trump’s state of mind.

A Whitened Media Shaped by Bill Clinton’s Telecom Act Misses Reasons for Hillary’s Defeat

The media’s current preoccupation with all things Russian, when the far more imminent threat is much closer to home, represents what is known as “cognitive dissonance,” which in the U.S. manifests as the white settlers’ reflexive attempt to rationalize their own savagery to avoid unsettling and even traumatizing truths.

MILWAUKEE (Analysis) -- The Donald Trump who addressed a small audience in Miami’s Little Haiti community, seven weeks before Election Day 2016, appeared to be an impostor. Gone were the gunslinger’s swagger, the arrogant smirk, and the shrill condescension, and in their place stood a subdued – almost humble – candidate, who seemed to be making

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has never been shy about his contempt for Jared Kushner and other members of President Donald Trump's cabinet. But in interviews conducted for a new book set to be released next week, Bannon opened up in a way that reportedly shocked the White House, attacking Trump's eldest son as "treasonous" and

Consortium News -- A changing-places moment brought about by Russia-gate is that liberals who are usually more skeptical of U.S. intelligence agencies, especially their evidence-free claims, now question the patriotism of Americans who insist that the intelligence community supply proof to support the dangerous claims about Russian ‘hacking” of

McCarthy-Style Targeting of Jill Stein Proves Democrats Have Truly Lost The Plot

Never mind that Stein also ran for president in 2012, ran for governor in Massachusetts in 2002, as a candidate for the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2004, for Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth in 2006 and for Massachuset

OPINION--- The collusion circus is coming for Jill Stein. The US Senate Intelligence Committee has asked the 2016 Green Party presidential candidate to hand over documents amid accusations she was part of a Russian plot to elect Trump. The news was met with delight by some pro-Hillary Clinton Democrats who have long expressed a visceral hatred
